NEWS! 01.07.2008. VIGNETTES IN SLOVENIA: As You probably know, Slovenia has started to charge expensive vignettes, despite the interdiction of European Union. Price for 1 year is 55,00 EUR and price for 6 months is 35,00 EUR. The 22 km of highway used to cost 1.50 EUR with return, from 01.07.2008. it will cost 35 EUR.
European automobile associations reckon that 35 EUR for 22 kilometres is inconsistent with EU principles. The EAC believes that the new toll system in Slovenia quite simply "rips off" tourists travelling through Slovenia to the south.
Toll dodgers will be fined of between 300-800 EUR. By way of comparison, the fine in Austria is 120 EUR.
To avoid paying vignettes for few kilometres of highway, we will help you find the routes to come to Croatia:
1. Old border Šentilj/Spielfield (E59)–Pesnica–Maribor–border Macelj. Maribor bypass road/highway is under vignette.
2. Old border Šentilj/Spielfield (E59)-Pesnica-Lenart-Ptuj-border Macelj.
3. Gornja Radgona-Radenci–Ljutomer–Ormoža–Border Trnovec.
4. Gornja Radgona (Bad Radkersburg)-Murska Sobota–Lendava–Border Mursko Središće.
5. Dravograd-–Slovenj Gradec-Celje-Krško-Small border Bregana or border Harmica (2,5 h drive).
6. Sežana-Divača-road E61 to Kozina-Border Pasjak.
7. Trst-border Pasjak.

NEWS! 15.06.2008. NEW TRAFFIC LAW: Croatian gouvernment started with extremly high traffic fines. For speeding you can pay fine up to 15000 HRK (2069 EUR). For driving under alcohol you can also recieve expensive fine or go to jail up to 60 days.
SPEED RESTRICTIONS IN INHABITATED AREAS:
- Allowed speed: 50 km/h
- Tolerance: 10%
- Speeding to 10 km/h: 300 HRK (41 EUR),
- Speeding for 10-20 km/h: 500 HRK (69 EUR),
- Speeding for 20-30 km/h: 1000 HRK (138 EUR),
- Speeding for 30-50 km/h: 2000 HRK (276 EUR),
- Speeding for over 50 km/h: 5000-15000 HRK (690-2069 EUR) or up to 60 days of prison.
SPEED RESTRICTIONS OUTSIDE INHABITATED AREAS:
- Allowed speed on freeways: 130 km/h,
- Allowed speed on motorways: 110 km/h,
- Allowed speed on other roads: 90 km/h,
- Tolerance: 10%.

- Speeding for 10-30 km/h: 500 HRK (69 EUR),
- Speeding for 30-50 km/h: 1000 HRK (138 EUR),
- Speeding over 50 km/h: 3000-7000 HRK (414-965 EUR).
DRIVING UNDER ALCOHOL & DRUGS:
- Allowed amount of alcohol: 0,50 ‰
- Amount of alcohol 0,50-1,00 ‰: 1000-2000 HRK (138-276 EUR),
- Amount of alcohol 1,00-1,50 ‰: 2000-5000 HRK (276-690 EUR),
- Amount of alcohol over 1,50 ‰ or under drugs: 5000-15000 HRK (690-2069 EUR) or up to 60 days of prison.
