Continental Croatia is consisted of 3 regions: Mountain region, Central Croatia and Region of Slavonija and Baranja.
MOUNTAIN REGION includes Gorski kotar, Lika and south part of Kordun. Mountain region is high karstic region, with mild continental climate and mountain climate.
Gorski kotar has most rain in all Croatia. Largest cities in Mountain region are Ogulin and Gospic. Inhabitants are directed to growing potatoes, corn, cabbage... Most important significance in Mountain region has its traffic importance. Dinara`s chain is here most tight and very porosity. Very important international roads are passing here (Budapest-Zagreb-Rijeka, Vienna-Zagreb-Split). This part is called the door of Croatia.
Plitvice lakes are most important tourist destination in this region. It is Croatian oldest national park. Plitvice lakes are consisted of 16 lakes.
Velebit is the longest mountain in Dinaridi (145 km). It consists area of 2274 km2, and park of nature Velebit 2247 km2. Tourist destinations within park of nature are Lovinac, Saint Rok, Gracac, Krasno... Plant and animal life on Velebit make endemic plants, deer... It is very popular hunting tourism and fishing.
