Omisalj (Croatia, Kvarner, Island Krk) is situated in northwest part of island of Krk in Croatia. It is located on asloped hill (85 m) from where you can see Rijeka, Opatija and island Cres. Omisalj is first time mentioned in 1153. as "Castri Musculi" (place where you can find shells). Omisalj is important center of literacy and glagolism since 11th century. First written monuments derive from 12th century.

Inhabitants in Omisalj are directed to fishing, chemistry industry, tourism and agriculture. In Omisalj bay there is a tanker terminal. Omisalj has many things to offer. Very important day for Omisalj is 16.8., the dance of young men and women, who are lifting a pole on top of which is a bride's crown.. The oldest glagolitic missal from 14th century, also in Omisalj, is located in Vatican library. Other cultural monuments are beautiful rose of master Sinoga, the Tower, wooden triptych of Jacobell del Fiora, Chapel of St. Jelena, city box from 16th century, many glagolitic documents... Beaches are mostly concrete, acceptable for children, because sea is not deep right next to the beach. Omisalj has its post office, bank, shops, restaurants ( "Barba Gerga" and "Pod lipom" ).
