Pula (Istria, Croatia) is largest town in Croatian region Istria. It is located on south-west side of Istria in well protected bay. Pula is administrative center of region Istria. It has around 68 000 inhabitants.

Pula is developed in the bottom and on seven hills. Climate in Pula is mediterranean. It has around 2300 sunny hours per year. Average year temperature is around 14 °C. In Pula are developed industries: ship building, traffic, food industry, building industry and tourism.
 
Pula is connected with other parts of Croatia and Europe with all kinds of transportation: airport, railroad, bus and ferry transportation. Pula is located 102 km far from Rijeka, 288 km far from Zagreb and 696 km far from Dubrovnik.
 
HISTORY
 
Pula was inhabitated since milion years B.C. There were found remains in a cave Sandalja near Pula. First inhabitants were Histris in 10th century B.C. In 177. B.C. Romans inhabitated area of Istria and town was developing fast. Romans built buildings and infrastructure and made Pula very important Roman port. Romans also built amphiteater for fights of people and animals. It was built in 1st century, during the rule of emperor Vespazijan. It is most known monument in Pula. It is sixth largest amphiteater in world. Pula was surrounded with walls until 19th century. Gate Arch of Sergijevci is kept till today.

Croats inhabitated Pula in 7th century. Since than Pula was under Venetian, Napoleon, Croatian-Hungarian, Austrian-Hungarian and Yugoslavic domination. Pula was many times attacked and ruined by different occupants.
 
In 1918. Pula and Istria were given to Italy. It was time of Mussolini`s dictatorship. After World War II, German army occupied Pula and it was worst time for Pula ever. In 1945. Yugoslav army occupied whole Istria. Most of the inhabitants were Italians. In 1991. Pula became part of independent Republic of Croatia.
 
CULTURE AND ATTRACTIONS
 
Pula consists many monuments kept from different times. Pula has two museums: Archeological Museum of Istria and Historical Museum of Istria, two libraries, theater Istrian National Theater, summer open cinema on Castle...
