Opatija (Croatia, Kvarner) is situated in Croatia in Kvarner's bay in base of mountain Ucka, which is, together with islands, protecting Opatija from strong winds. Opatija has longest tourism tradition in Croatia, starting since 19th century. So there are many historical monuments you can visit. St. Jakov's Church, Opatija, built in 15th century as a benedictine colony. Replication of relief "Pieta", of known croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, is kept in St. Jakov's Church.

Parish Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, dating from 1906.. It is neo-omanesque building with three naves and green dome. Villa Angiolina (built in 1844.) was made by merchant Higin Scarpa who named it after his wife Angiolina. Lungomare is 12 km long coastal promenade. Along the route there were built memorial attributes to known figures who were staying in Opatija, like writter Henrik Sienkiewicz, doctor Theodor Billroth, general Jozef Pilsudski...

One of the symbols of Opatija is sculpture of a girl with a sea-gull, made by sculptor Zvonko Car. It is placed on a rock above the sea in 1956. It is lighted with reflectors every night and it attracts tourists to Opatija's riviera. Before sculpture of a girl, there was sculpture Madonna del mare in memory of Arthur Kesselstadt, who tragically died at sea in 1891.

Some others are Evangelical Church, St. John of God's Church, Parish Church of St. Marco, St. Ann's Church.... Park of nature Ucka counts over 70 nest birds and many more other birds. From the lookout you can see everything that sorrounds Ucka, like Istria (Croatia), islands of north Adriatic, mountains in Gorski Kotar (Croatia), Venice, Italian Alps... In several caves there were found proofs of life since 12 thousand years BC. Woods, rocks, waterfalls, meadows, pastures, sources, ground waters, minerals, flora, fauna, cultural and historical heritage and much more, make beauty of Ucka.
