Lovran (Croatia, Kvarner) is located on the east side of croatian largest peninsula Istra, in the base of mountain Ucka. It is perfectly protected from the winds, because of the mountains on the north and west and islands on the sea side. Because of the mediterranean climate with elements of continental climate, here succeeds rich vegetation, like laurel, palm, oak, cypress... In the gardens succeed cherries, olives, grape vine, chestnut...

Lovran got the name by Laurel Nobilis in 7th century. It is sorrounded by defence wall, that has 3 city gates that are closed at night. 1873. it is built first tourist object Villa Fernandea - depandansa Belvedere. The protector of Lovran is St. Juraj. There is a church of St. Juraj located at the main square of St. Juraj. On the square there is great city tower, which is today used as art atelier. East city gate "Stubica" are very well preserved. They were leading to the harbour of Lovran called Mandrac.

Between Lovran and Ika there are most beautiful villas, made with elements of venetian gothic style. Some of them are Villa Santa Maria, Villa Frappart and Villa Niccolo ( now Villa Magnolia).
