ISTRA TOURIST INFORMATION
Ucka is the highest (1 396 metres) mountain in Istria, Pula is the largest town with 81 000 inhabitants and smallest town is Hum, which is the smallest town in the whole world. Average air temperature in February, which is the coldest mont is 6 °C and in July, which is the warmest month is 23 °C and average annual air temperature is 14 °C. Sea temperature is 24 °C in the summer and 9 °C during the winter.

ISTRIAN WINE
Phoenicians and ancient Greek brought wine to Istria. Histrians, ancient autochtonous inhabitants of Istria, have very well mastered skills of growing and producing wine. Most important type of wine in Istria is White Malvasia, Teran, Red Borgonja, Red Hrvatica and many more world famous wines like Refošk, White Pinot, Grey Pinot, Red Merlot, Chardonny and Cabernet Sauvignon. In Bujstina, the region in Istria, you can find most famous wine road, with 22 famous producers. Wine road is located between two rivers, Dragonja and Mirna.

ISTRIAN CUISINE
Istrian cuisine has its basis in the nature, aromatic spices, wild plants, vegetables, sea food... It was under influence of German and Frankish rules. Today, Istria is offering not only shellfish, mollusca and fish, now you can enjoy in baked sausages, ombolo, sauerkraut, gnochhi hare-meat, fuzi with venison and macaroni with sausauge sauce. Especially popular is Istrian sheep cheese, smoked ham, differents sorts of minestre, jota and fritaja and some delicacies, pinca, fritule, kroštule...

As a best of Istrian gastronomy is truffle. Nobody knows is it a spice or food. Biggest truffle was found in Istria in 1999, it was 1,31 kg heavy and it was entered into the Guiness book of records.
