Dugi rat (Croatia, Central Dalmatia) is a small place near Split. The distance is approximately 15 km. It is known by its beautiful beach, and very peaceful surroundings ideal for family vacations and rest. It is placed alongside the coastline in a narrow belt.

The oldest settlements of Dugi rat were in the hills above it they were named Jesenice, Zeljovici, Krug and Duce. These places are abandoned now, because all of the people came down to the sea over the years.

Archeological finds from caves „Turska pec“ and „Ponistirca“ are from the stone age. Those finds tell us a lot about the life in this area. People built their settlements in the hills so they could control the surrounding areas. There is also a factory in Dugi rat, it is now out of business, but because of the people who worked there, there are a few multi-story buildings in the town.
