Drvenik Veliki (Croatia, Central Dalmatia, island Drvenik Veli) is a settlement on island Drvenik Veli, located in Croatian region Central Dalmatia. Island Drvenik Veli is separated with land with Drvenik's Canal. Nearest mainland port is in Vinisce. Size of island Drvenik Veli is 12 km2. Highest peak on island is hill Buhaj (177 m high).

Permanent inhabitants came to the island in 15th century. First inhabitants were shepherds and nomads, mostly from Zagora and Drvenik near Makarska, running away from Turks. Island Drvenik was named by village Drvenik near Makarska. In 1848. it was named Drvenik Veli. First church was built in Mandroc.

Settlement Drvenik, located on north-west side of the island, is also a bay, suitable for sailors, boats, yachts. It is protected from the winds. Climate is Mediterranean. Summers are hot and dry, winters are mild and rainy. Winds that blow are bora and scirocco. Average year temperature is 18ºC. Drvenik Veli is known by carobs. It is also rich with holm oak, olive trees, bearberries, laurels...

Drvenik has around 900 inhabitants. Inhabitants are mostly directed to agriculture, livestock farming and fishing. Settlement Drvenik is regional center of island Drvenik Veli. Island has 9 more settlements. Accommodation in Drvenik is offered in private apartments and rooms.

Island Drvenik Veli has many beautiful bays. Some of them are: Drvenik, Solinska, Mala luka (Small port), Grabule... There are no liquid waters on island Drvenik Veli. Water supply is conducted by wells.
