Bibinje (Croatia, North Dalmatia) is Dalmatian town situated southeast from Zadar. Name Bibanum is mentioned in 11th century. Bibinje counts around 4000 inhabitants directed to agriculture, live stock farming, fishing and tourism (since 20th century).

 

In Bibinje there is Marina Dalmatia, largest marina on Croatian Adriatic. Bibinje offers accommodation in 700 private rooms and apartments with more than 2000 beds, camps...

Bibinje is closely connected with Benedictines. Croatian king Petar Krešimir the 4th gave Tocinja (today's Bibinje) to Benedictines in permanent property. In 15th century Turks started attacking Bibinje and Venetian authorities built defensive wall and a tower around Bibinje.

 

Churches known in Bibinje are:

- St. Peter's Church, oldest, built in 8th century,

- Church of Torture of St. John the Baptist, built in 12th century,

- Church of Birth of St. John the Baptist, from 15th century,

- Church of St. Roko, from 16th century, main symbol of Bibinje,

- Church of Ascension of the Holy Virgin Mary.

 

In Bibinje you can also visit etnographic museum and old oil mill.

Bibinje has large beaches with many attractions. Some of them are Punta Rozica, Frnaza, Sulterov val, Lipanska, Punta... Bibinje offers many sport and recreation attractions. You can choose between diving, sailing, biking, windsurfing, basketball, volleyball, soccer....
